Paulo Augusto Franco de Alcântara is a researcher at the Center for Research on Culture and Economy (NuCEC) and at the Law and Economics Center at FGV Direito Rio. He is a doctorate candidate in Cultural Anthropology at IFCS/UFRJ and has a Master degree in Sociology and Law at Universidade Federal Fluminense. He has experience in the fields of economic anthropology, rural anthropology, development anthropology and visual anthropology.
His doctoral research consists on the description and ethnographic inquiry from experiences-processes of small farmers with recent public policies aimed at development in family farming. The research unit is based on a coffee community located in the region of Caparaó, in the Zona da Mata Mineira. Currently Paulo Augusto also develops research related to the topic of consumer credit over-indebtedness in Brazil and has a project of biographical reference on the Brazilian thinker Raymundo Faoro.
